This is a collection of images I created with Bryce 2. Click on the thumbnails to view the images full-size. Also note that images marked with an asterisk (*) were made with the Bryce 2 demo. Thus I could not save the .BRC files and had to monitor the rendering to hurry and screen capture before Bryce put the ugly watermark across the images! This explains the strange vertical sizes of some of these pictures since I couldn't be exact and capture the WHOLE render. I just got as close as I could (and what a pain it was)! Most of the images here are very simple and examples of early work I did. The only images here I feel would be worthy of using to demonstrate what I can do with Bryce are the DesertLake, NeonBNCC, and RivenItem scenes (all of which I created after having purchased, learned, and become comfortable with the program).

I own Bryce 2 but haven't upgraded due to MetaCreations' policy of adding features to the program before fixing the bugs in the current version. I have heard that Bryce 4 seems to run pretty solid, but am still very wary of upgrading. I remember how, soon after Bryce 3D came out, people who had upgraded reported that it still had many of the quirks and errors that were present in Bryce 2. The sad thing is that MetaCreations was aware of these bugs and inconsistencies, yet chose to add more features to the program instead of fixing the problems with the features that were already present. I just can't justify spending the $100 upgrade fee on a company that does this. There are too many great (and unfortunately expensive) 3D rendering & modeling programs out there besides Bryce (like TrueSpace, Lightwave, 3D Studio Max, and Rhinoceros). As I've always said, Bryce is an incredible and affordable (at US $170) program, it just has what seems to be a lousy support/development team. MetaCreations' Kai's Power Tools (KPT), a program I own as well, is one of the best plug-ins I've seen for image editing programs and it works great. If only they'd put the same effort into Bryce it would probably be the best selling modeling & rendering program out there.

I don't spend much time working in Bryce anymore. Instead, I use Bryce mostly to build objects for other graphical images and applications.

24CS8x6 24CS8x6.jpg 88K 800x600 image. This image was saved in 256 color mode then converted back to full color, so it doesn't look as good as the original. I deleted the .BRC file too, so I can't re-render it.
BirthEarth *BirthEarth.jpg 35K 640x462 image.
BNCC1 *BNCC1.jpg 70K 640x463 image. I used to work in the BNCC, in case you're wondering. 3D letter model made in Pixel 3D.
BNCC2 *BNCC2.jpg 57K 640x462 image. 3D letter model made in Pixel 3D.
BNCCShore BNCCShore.jpg 76K 800x600 image. 3D letter model made in Pixel 3D.
DesertLake DesertLake.jpg 84K 800x600 image.
Desolation Desolation.jpg 73K 800x600 image.
Glenys *Glenys.jpg 67K 640x461 image. My wife's name. As with most of my graphics, I just started playing around in boredom to come up with this. 3D letter model made with Pixel 3D.
KenLake KenLake.jpg 69K 640x480 image. Another image created out of boredom. See my name in the lake?
LostLake *LostLake.jpg 95K 640x462 image.
MoonMist *MoonMist.jpg 36K 640x462 image.
NeonBNCC NeonBNCC.jpg 91K 640x480 image. I used to play Quake quite a bit over a LAN. A nice image, but the composition could definitely be improved.
NetConfig NetConfig.jpg 85K 800x600 image. I made this for use as desktop wallpaper for someone I used to work with. Simple, but nice. 3D letter model made with Pixel 3D.
OkinawaSunset *OkinawaSunset.jpg 59K 640x462 image. Inspired by my two years of living on this beautiful island in Japan. Looking at this image now, I can tell I had little sense of composition when I made it!
RGCrystal RGCrystal.jpg 87K 800x600 image. It had been a while since I made anything in Bryce, so I threw this together to use as my desktop wallpaper. 15 Aug 99.
RGLogo RGLogo.jpg 75K 800x426 image. An experiment using the Reptile Garden logo I made with Paint Shop Pro and Pixel 3D. Nothing fancy, but I like how it turned out. 28 Jul 99.
RivenItem RivenItem.jpg 83K 640x480 image. I'm a big fan of Myst/Riven, and made this scene out of graphical elements from the game.
SysAdmin SysAdmin.jpg 52K 640x480 image. While working System Administration, I made this as a wallpaper for my computer at work.
WhoopCan WhoopCan.jpg 54K 640x480 image. Made for a coworker's wallpaper.
WinterLight *WinterLight.jpg 71K 640x463 image.
